Your home is supposed to be the safest place of all. It's where you know where everything is and what everybody is doing at any moment. You've built a close relationship with your neighbors and you know exactly how long it takes you to get from your house to work, to the grocery store or to the nearest hospital. As a homeowner it's your duty to protect your home and everybody living in it.
That responsibility should also extend once you leave your home. You may not be in control of everything that happens once you've left your property but you can take steps to make sure you're prepared if an emergency happens. Your vehicle should also be equipped with some sort of vehicle emergency kit that will keep you safe no matter what emergency you are going through.
Be it a car accident, running out of gas, getting a flat tire, a natural disaster like a hurricane or earthquake, or a medical emergency, you need to be prepared. Every car should be in possession of vehicle emergency kit that is full of items and supplies that will prepare you for whatever emergency might come your way once you've left your home. If your trunk is full of supplies then you might want to get rid of them to make room for a vehicle emergency kit.
Some things you can keep inside your car as part of your vehicle emergency kit include first aid supplies, flashlights, bottles of water, snacks, flares, blankets, maps, and extra clothing, just to name a few. It also doesn't hurt to have a car jack and a spare tire or two. You can always pick up a spare tire and stash it in the trunk of your car for an emergency situation, that is if your vehicle does not already have one.
If you have any medical conditions such as diabetes or high blood pressure and take medication then you might want to store some medication in your emergency vehicle kit. You just never know when a situation might arise where you find yourself stranded and need your medication.
One day you could find yourself driving along and a heavy rain or hailstorm could occur forcing you to pull over. You don't know how long you might be stuck on the side of the road but as long as you packed a vehicle emergency kit you should be fine until help can arrive.
